Fuengirola Feria – one of the best on the Costa del Sol!

If you are lucky enough to be planning a trip to the Costa del Sol in October, make sure you visit between the 6 and 12 October for the fabulous Fuengirola Feria.

Held annually in honour of Our Lady, the Virgin of El Rosario, the Patron Saint of Fuengirola this huge festival takes place in the main fairground at night and through the streets of the town during the day. Bars are festooned with flags and decorations and the Plaza de Constitucion (Church Square) is a riot of colour, music and dancing on the first day of the Feria.

Horses & Sherry at Fuengirola Feria

A horse procession through the streets of the town is one of the highlights of the Feria and locals dress in traditional costumes, with many of the women wearing flamenco style dresses and riding side saddle, sipping sherry as they go. Local people are proud of their annual feria and rightly so.  Elegant horsemen wear the traditional short grey jackets, cravats, boots and hats.

A huge firework display heralds the start of the celebrations on 6 October. The main fairground is situated between Fuengirola and Los Boliches end of town. During the day the bars and restaurants are open and the fairground is packed with horses and colourful carriages. During the evenings the fair lights up with rides, stalls, music and dancing until the early hours.
