Probably one of the most celebrated annual fairs on the Costa del Sol, Fuengirola Feria is a highlight of the social calendar in southern Spain.

The dazzling fair will take place from October 6th-12th in 2018 when the streets are colourful riot of song, music and dance.

Fuengirola Feria is staged in honour of Our Lady, the Virgin of El Rosario, Patron Saint of Fuengirola. The town centre bars are festooned with flags and decorations and the Plaza de Constitucion (or Church Square) comes alive on the first day with live music and dancing, not to mention the chilled fino sherry and delicious paella.

Properties for sale in Fuengirola are popular with ex-pats who want to enjoy an informal atmosphere, beaches, local attractions and an amazing climate.

Horses and flamenco dresses

A horse procession through the streets of the town is one of the highlights and locals dress in colourful costumes, with many of the women wearing flamenco style dresses and riding side saddle on the back of majestic Andalucian horses.  Local people are proud of their annual feria and rightly so.  Elegant horsemen wear the traditional short grey jackets, cravats, boots and hats.

The start of the Feria on 6th October is celebrated with a huge firework display. Although the main fair ground is situated between Fuengirola and Los Boliches celebrations take place at different venues throughout the town and through the main streets. The fairground is lit up and the children´s fair is situated just inside the entrance with dodgems, side shows, carousels and of course, a big wheel.

Transport to Fuengirola Feria

Visitors staying in Malaga, Torremolinos or Benalmadena should catch the local train and get off in Los Boliches or Fuengirola centre (both a 10 minute walk from the fairground).

Further into the fairground, as noise levels increase, visitors are sucked in by the vibrant atmosphere and the live music in the casetas. Special events and dance schools perform in these lively marquees, and you can eat, drink and dance until dawn.

Prizes are given for the best-presented horses, and don´t miss the events at the bull ring where carriage displays take place. If you are planning a day or night at the feria, take plenty of photos.

Fuengirola and Los Boliches properties for sale are most sought after by ex-pats looking for holiday homes and permanent residences in the sun.
